Who we are

nestworth is a personal finance tracking service for New Zealanders. We help you track your net worth, investments, and Freedom Year — the year your passive income covers your living expenses.

We are based in New Zealand and subject to the Privacy Act 2020.

What information we collect

  • Account information: your email address and name when you sign up.
  • Financial profile: income, expenses, and FIRE targets you enter yourself.
  • Bank and investment data: balances and transaction summaries fetched via Akahu, if you choose to connect it. We store balance snapshots — not individual transactions.
  • Property data: addresses, estimated values, and mortgage balances you enter.
  • Usage data: standard server logs including page views and errors. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising pixels.

How we use your information

  • To calculate and display your Freedom Year and financial dashboard.
  • To send your Weekly Wealth Review email, if you opt in.
  • To process your subscription via Stripe.
  • To improve the service based on aggregate usage patterns.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train AI models.

Akahu and open banking

If you connect Akahu, nestworth receives read-only access to your bank balances and transaction summaries. We cannot initiate payments or transfers. We store aggregate monthly balance snapshots to power your dashboard. Your Akahu access token is stored encrypted in our database.

Akahu is regulated by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) of New Zealand. You can revoke nestworth's access to your Akahu data at any time from your nestworth settings or directly at my.akahu.nz.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted in the Asia-Pacific region. We use row-level security policies to ensure each user can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

We take reasonable technical precautions to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct any inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your account and all associated data.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@nestworth.co. We will respond within 20 working days.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies from third parties.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will notify you by email of any material changes before they take effect.
